The Human Services Education Council (HSEC) was
developed by the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana),
University Extension Office in 1978. Two staff persons from the
McFarland Mental Health Center and the Regional Program Director for
the University of Illinois met in Springfield and developed a plan
to form a volunteer committee to plan, develop, and deliver
low-cost, professional workshops for people in the helping
professions. More than 100 workshops have been offered in the past
30
years and over 11,000 professionals have participated.
HSEC holds continuing education sponsor licenses through the
Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and CEU-certificates
are offered in Professional Social Work, Professional Counseling,
and Marriage and Family Therapy. (Additional CEU-certificates are
offered through Southern Illinois University and Memorial Medical
Center, including Nursing Education, CADC, General, and Nursing Home
Administration.) |
